Suwannee River – July 29, 2015

Nice paddle today with the Yak Pak on the upper Suwannee River between Gibson Park and Suwannee River State Park.  We expected afternoon thunderstorms so we picked a short section of only about 8.5 miles.  The rain started (and it was a doozy) as we were loading up at the end, so we timed it just right.

I love the upper Suwannee for its water-eroded limestone sculptures, tree roots carving through the rocks to reach the water, wonderful sand beaches, minute signs of life clinging to the rocks, and the occasional spring.
