Melrose Bay Kayak Demo – August 5, 2015

What do you do when you have people interested in getting a kayak and the local kayak shops are not doing demos this week?  You stage your own little demo on a local lake!

The 5-Star Yak Pak gathered up some of our boats and took them out to Melrose Bay for folks to try out. We had 4 different Eddylines, 2 Hurricanes, 1 Old Town, 1 Delta, 2 Wilderness Systems and 1 Don’s Kayak (locally-made).

Rotomolded, thermoform and fiberglass.  Play boats to touring kayaks, rudder and rudder-less. Carbon paddles, fiberglass paddles and plastic paddles.  Bent shaft and straight shaft.  Enough variety for folks to get an idea of what direction they want to go, if not to pick out the perfect boat and/or paddle.

We talked about the uses, advantages and disadvantages of each boat and also went over some basic strokes with them then let the participants try them all out.  And we had sunny skies until around 12:30 pm when the afternoon thunderstorms started building up and we decided it was time to pack up and go out to lunch.

Quite a fleet to choose from to try out!
